Management needs to understand that having a mental health benefits program is NOT the same as leading a culture that thinks seeking help for a mental health condition is normal and just as important as getting more exercise.
The more our society understands that we need information and not labels, the more we’ll move the needle toward supporting the health of the whole person. Why would a person disclose their mental health condition in an environment that doesn’t support seeking treatment as healthy and normal?
If you’re in a position to influence your leaders, help them understand the risks they are taking by not endorsing positive mental health care.
